Taking care of your solar lights is important if you want them to last and be efficient. Decorative solar lights might require more care because of where they are usually located.

Basic Care For Solar Lights

Align the solar panels in way where they are facing the sun unobstructed. Make sure no trees, bushes, planets, flowers, any part of the house or anything else that comes in the way of the sun and solar panels. It is also a great idea to position the lights where the sunlight is the strongest this will greatly effect how fast the rechargeable battery will be charged. Falling leaves, dirt and other particles might fall on the solar or might even cover the sensor. If this were to happen the solar lights might not turn on because the sensor will be obstructed. And when that happens the solar lights won’t turn on at night. You can simply solve this by removing whatever is covering the sensor. The battery will most likely last you two years so you don’t have to think about a replacement until then. Retailers will advertise that a nicad rechargeable battery will last three years but rarely is this the case. You can probably could on 750-900 deep charges after which a replacement might be necessary.

Cleaning the solar lights and solar panels is also necessary from time to time. Mud and dirt can get on them and simply use a damp towel to lightly clean the dirt off. Other than that there is nothing more you can do. If your solar lights have problems functioning right then the problem is probably from the device itself. The defect or problem can either be the battery, the solar panels, LED, light sensor or the controller board. Your solar lights should come with a warranty and the retailer should replace any defective parts. If you are out of warranty then you can probably order the parts yourself. Depending on what kind of solar lights you have you might be able to replace them yourself.
